Getting started as a Catering Company

Congratulations for making it onto the Bizzievents platform as a trusted vendor. This guide will take you through all the steps including completing your sign up, getting your listing live and accepting your first order.

Not yet a vendor with BizziEvents? You can join here.

Step 1: Sign-up

Before you can generate more revenue for your business you will need to join the Platform.

If you haven't been invited to the platform via email, you can create your profile by visiting our Platform sign-up page

Enter your details and click 'Create account'. You will now receive an email to confirm your account creation.

Step 2: Submit your Listing(s)

Now you have an account, you have a few options, including adding more people to your account, completing your profile or adding your listing. You are here to generate more bookings so let's get started with your bread and butter, your services.

In the top right corner select the button titled '+Submit Listing'.

You will be presented with a number of categories to select from. These are the current Bizzievent corporate event offerings that our clients are requesting.

Select 'Catering'.

The last section here is your Listing type.  Selecting 'Enquiry' will mean Planners contact you through the platform, and you are then able to engage as per your standard process. You will be required to manage all invoicing and ongoing communications.

Step 3: List An Option

Our study found that for the majority of catering bookings, the high degree of customisation and selection, selecting a caterer can be overwhelming and a lengthy process. Some event planners would spend 2 hours per event on catering decisions for a simple fare.

In order to make the process simple for both parties, the recommended listing is to create one listing for each portion size per guest. This will enable you to set a price per portion size (for example all Small portions are $20 per Guest, all Medium are $35 and all Large are $80). It will then be up to the client to match your price to their approved budget per person.

When creating a listing there are a number of fields to complete:

  • Listing Title: an eye-catching way to summarise your catering services (for example, Hand made breakfast catering with free CBD delivery)
  • Portions Per Guest: a Small amount of food per guest, a Medium portion per guest or Large as a 3+ course meal
  • Price per Guest: this is the set amount you will be charging clients for the volume of catering offered. You can also review any terms associated with your pricing.
  • Detailed Description: It is recommended to provide 2-3 examples of what they could get for their Price per Guest. If you are offering delivery, include your delivery area in your description. Always include your food allergy disclaimers and provide an overview of what you can cater for. An example description for a Small Portion Per Guest is provided below:

"Select from one of the below packages
Sample Option 1: Filtered coffee and tea, handmade  plain croissants, handmade friands, chocolate brownies and fresh fruit
Sample Option 2: Filtered coffee and tea, handmade plain croissants, ham & cheese croissants and fresh fruit.

Please be aware that our food may contain or come into contact with common allergens, such as dairy, eggs, wheat, soybeans, tree nuts, peanuts, fish, shellfish and we cannot guarantee any dietary considerations.

A minimum order of 12 Guests is required per booking.

We are able to provide free delivery in Sydney CBD, between North Sydney and Haymarket."

  • Catering Delivery: Tick the box for whether you offer delivery (include a fee if required), or free pickup
  • Business Name: Your business name
  • Status: First Nations, Not For Profit, and/or Carbon Neutral
  • Dietary Catering Options: If you are able to work with any of these, include them in the listing
  • Languages: If you offer your services in, and are fluent in, another language include it in the listing
  • Location: Your kitchen address
  • Pictures: These should be images relevant to the Small, Medium or Large portions per Guest

Once you have reviewed your work, select 'Post listing'

Step 4: Review listing

On your preview page you will be able to  review how your listing will look and if needed you can update the listing by selecting 'Edit listing'.

From here, your listing is now under review, and will typically be live in under 2 business days.

Step 5: Add More Listings

Add another listing for the other or different services you offer. For example if you are a venue you might have different rooms that can be hired.

Step 6: Complete your Profile

Now the most important part after getting your listing live, is making sure people can pay you. Select your profile picture on the left of the '+Submit Listing' button and then choose 'Settings'.

Here you will see a number of options you can complete:

  • Profile Information: Your name, display name and an about you. This should be about your company, why people should select you and how you are able to offer a better service than any other. Your profile picture should be your logo, as this will show on your listing.
  • Listings: You will see each of the listings you created and the status of each. You can also select the Pencil icon and edit any listing.
  • Transactions: Here you will see each transaction, whether it is pending or completed.
